A bit of satire about the MMR

I recognize this may offend some but, in the interest of offering a jab of something on a humorous (or simply bad taste) note: Here is a bit of satire about a familiar autism issue from Mangling Medical Careers (autumn 2006):
MMR vaccine now linked to mental retardation: A new study shows that parents who refuse the MMR vaccination for their children have higher rates of mental retardation than parents of children who have had the jab. Andrew Wackyfield, the renowned author of the first paper showing a link between the MMR vaccine and autism, has now published research in The Scalpel showing that an average IQ of 87.

I’d pass it along, but one of the places I would enjoy passing it along has one curebie-mom who has stopped vaccinating her kids (there are a few mothers of autistic children in the bunch) and one mom I’m closer to is spreading out the vaccinations on her youngest for valid medical reasons, and I don’t want a negative reaction from either of those quarters (one, I don’t want to deal with the curebie, period, if I can avoid it, and the other mom is too darn sweet for most of the others NOT to take her side if she were hurt).
I was little hesitant to post it but thought to myself, “Lighten up!” Am curious about any reactions you here.
I often deal with parents and teachers who don’t understand autism. It’s important to keep a sense of humor and use it! Humor often keeps me sane amidst the insanity of raising a disabled teenager.
I feel guilty but I’m laughing ;o)

Studies show that those who don’t believe that the MMR vaccine contributes to the causes of autism are extraordinarily naïve when it comes to the reports of the powers that be. It took them the longest time to admit that “Well yes, I guess smoking is related to cancer.” or that Bill Clinton never had sexual relations with Monica Lewinsky. Studies also show that they believe there still are weapons of mass destruction in Iraq waiting to be found, Sadam Hussein and Osama Bin Ladin were in contact on a regular basis before 9/11 and that Global Warming is a hoax.
I was really surprised to see that all of the comments on this article were positive. Until I posted my own… And it disappeared. And I posted it again. And it disappeared again… Are we going for that “Fair and Balanced” Approach?

describing stereotypes of antivaccinationists and
replacing a few words.
The lancet is a respectable medicle journal highly beyond the intellectual scope of this article poor attempt at homour.
