A Break from Your Journal

Sometimes life gets really crazy or busy or some other thing you can’t control. When this happens it can be a good idea to take a journal break. Ideally you could grab a quick moment to journal about your day or your thoughts, but sometimes this just isn’t possible.
No one should ever feel guilty for putting down their journal for a short time because of things going on in their lives. Whenever my mother comes to visit I tend to pull away from time in my journal. I don’t get to see her often, since she lives on the other side of the country, and I feel it’s more important for me to give her all the time I can. I may still manage to scrawl a couple of important details into my nightly journal, but I wait until she’s gone to return to my usual routine.
The benefits of keeping a journal won’t be missed if leaving it alone for short periods is something you remember to balance with your life. Journal writing should not be an obsession or a chore to fulfill. Remember to live a good life and to treat yourself well. Sometimes a nap is just as good, if not better, than a journal writing session. I hope you all enjoyed your Easter holidays.

I needed this. Right now I’ve got millions of balls in the air and my writing (journal and blog) have suffered. If I didn’t have extra posts lined up for an emergency . . .
I tend to feel guilty when I’m not writing. Terribly guilty.
I’m glad anything I’ve said helps. So long as you know you’re getting back to it, take it easy. Relax.
