A Cooking Prompt

Food has the ability to bring out amazing responses from people. We all seem to have a love/hate relationship with food. Many memories revolve around certain dishes. Every one of our senses is involved while cooking and eating food. There’s the social or community aspect involved, too. The ideal atmosphere is preparing and sharing meals with other people. As an exercise in using your senses write in your journal today about food, but specifically cooking.

What kind of a relationship do you have with cooking? Do you love it, but have no time for it? Do you often have cook-ups and spend time with family and friends eating together? Do you hate cooking and avoid it whenever possible? Was your mother (insert appropriate family member here) a fantastic cook, or a lousy one? Write about the foods you grew up on. How different are these meals compared to the ones you prepare now? What are you favourite recipes and why? What specific memories do you have of cooking with certain family members?

I hope you enjoy this journal writing prompt. If you like please share any responses in your blog by leaving a link in the comments section below.
