A Dame’s Perspective on Problogger’s Lists

I recently participated in Darrens’ group writing project with my post 5 Easy Steps to Snag A Date With Me over at Truth + Travesty. And I’ve been looking over the other list submissions and I’d like to highlight a few that are deemed appropriate [to Dating Dames] and, of course, the ones I found entertaining.

First was a quick comparison on married and single life. I learned a thing or two. And it was amusing, too.

Looking through romantic movies that will occupy my single life. That is, if I haven’t watched any of them. I have. And, I don’t think I can sit through Titanic again. Ugh.

If you look through this one, the general idea behind his list on why starting over is a good thing, can be applied to relationships, too. Coolness.

Here’s a good guideline on a gift idea — buying HER lingerie. Well, read up. It helps if you know what you’re doing. It’s hard to just ‘wing it’ when it comes to these things. Hehehe.

And if it’s a European romantic getaway you’re after, then it’s best if you check some tips just to level the expectations.

But if it’s just good food your after, dining out can be as tedious as tedious can get. Learn how to spot a bad resto. I’m sure you’ll appreciate these tips especially when your intentions are to impress your lady love. /coughs

I also came across a good backgrounder for single women who are planning to get marriend. Either we learn to do it on purpose or to avoid it at all cost. Hahaha.

There’s also this bit about reasons for marrying the first AND second time around. Introspection came too late but not late enough to get it right the second time. I’m glad to know that there people who do get married for the right reasons.

Now, for you people who love songs. Either the kind that tells a story about a break up, falling in love, yada, yada, yada. It’s a list of his top heartfelt picks.

Last but certainly not the least, I think this is my favourite, because what can you say about finding love in a blog? I experienced a melting feeling when I read that bit about them marrying 8 hours after their first meeting. Utterly impractical and, not to mention, risky! But I still found it romantic.

Anyway, that’s all I have right now. I hope you’d enjoy the read as much as I did.

To be Frank, Titanic is one of my all time favourite movie..I know many won’t agree on this but still…

By the way, have you watched any of that 25 movies?

  2. Laurie says:

Yes, it was risky, and not something I would recommend. On the other hand, it worked out nicely for us. :) Did you read the longer version of our story? :D

    Thanks for the mention. :)

  3. Sasha Manuel says:

Ashwin, yea, as a matter of fact I have watched all save one, Ralph Fiennes’ movie, The English Patient.

Titanic IS a good movie. It’s not a bad choice for a favourite. :)

And Laurie, I think I missed the longer version, perhaps I’ll go take a look. =) No worries. Glad that you stopped by. Thanks! :)

  4. Laurie says:

The longer version is at http://www.laurieandfahim.laurieashton.com

The abbreviated version is that we met because the help section for the program he wrote – Blog, which is a desktop-based blogging solution – sucked, and I needed help. Two months later I left Canada to meet him and then we were married eight hours after that.

Yeah, it’s all just a little bit more than insane. :D

  5. Sasha Manuel says:

Oh, Laurie. I was grinning the entire time I was reading your incredible love story. I even laughed out loud a couple of times out of disbelief! Hahaha. :)

I’m such a sucker for happy endings.

Do you mind if I share it [your love story] to the rest of the readers of Dating Dames? :)
