And more…
“Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion; we need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio, and films.”
The Eleventh Tradition
Today’s Daily Reflection – a repeat of the last paragraph of the Eleventh Tradition in the 12&12;
“To us, however, it represents far more than a sound public relations policy. It is more than a denial of self-seeking. This Tradition is a constant and practical reminder that personal ambition has no place in A.A. In it, each member becomes an active guardian of our Fellowship.”
Thirteenth Stepper? Glory Seeker? Personal ambition has no place in A.A.!
I believe there is an identical principle which applies to groups. You know, those groups that have another anniversary every single time someone from that group celebrates an A.A. birthday. The announcements of dozens of sober birthdays in any one group are simply encrypted messages of “our group is better than yours.” Egotistical. Self-seeking at a group level.
“Humility brings me closer to the actual spirit of togetherness and oneness, without which I could not stay sober.”
