A four day school week?

April 30, 2007 by Elizabeth

Some school districts are looking at a four day school week because of budget concerns, as well as educational benefits.

I have no personal knowledge of this type of system. but, while it may help with the traditional after school care problem, what in the world do working parents do with their kids on the day off?

Does anyone have any experience with this? How has it worked out in your area?

I’ve been wondering why one of two things doesn’t happen: Schools adopt the schedules of working parents or workplaces adopt the schedules of schools. Several alternatives might include all employers make it completely okay to work several hours from home, ideally the afternoon hours when children are home from school.
