A fractured testicle? Pity poor Diamondbacks’ catcher Chris Snyder

Ouch. That’s all I could think when I hear the news – and I’m not a guy. Ouch.
Honestly, I didn’t think it was possible to fracture a testicle, but that’s what happened to Arizona Diamondbacks’ catcher Chris Snyder on June 30th when he was struck in the groin by a foul ball.
According to emedicine.com, although testicular fractures aren’t common, 50% of them happen during sporting events, ranging from wrestling to – apparently – baseball. As I read on, I had to laugh when I read this observation: “The condition is observed only in men.” Yes, I imagine that would be true.
The article goes on to say that this injury is an emergency, and more than 80% of ruptured testes can be saved if surgery is performed within 72 hours.
Poor guy. That has got to hurt.
