A Gift of Hair

Merry Christmas from Baldiness! It’s the Christmas season, and signs of kindness are essential. I particularly enjoy stories like this one from the Naperville Sun.

Too often we hear only about the greed: Black Friday Stampedes; fights and extortion-like auctions for the season’s hot toys. This darker elements need to be driven back by brighter stories of generosity and kindness. In fact, I’m committed to highlighting every such story I find over the next month.

Kelly [Walsh], a sixth-grader at Jefferson Junior High School, wanted to donate her hair to Locks of Love, a nonprofit organization that provides wigs for children who have developed long-term medical hair loss. To do so, she had to part with at least 10 inches of her thick, brown mane.

Well done Kelly! (And well done mom and dad.) If you’ve got a relevant story of kindness, let me know. I’ll post it here with links back to you and the source. Let’s see how much Christmas light we can spread…
