A Little Bit of Portugal, A Little Late
Bought at one of our recent wine store finds, I waited too long to write about this one to give many details. Don’t know how much it cost or what it was eaten with…but I do remember it was a nice little treat. The 2005 Altano Douro is 70% Tinta Roriz (indigeneous to Spain where it’s known as Tempranillo, providing tannin and structure) and 30% Touriga Franca (lighter and more perfumed). 40,000 cases were bottled January of last year, giving this particular bottle plenty of time to make it to another continent, into a store I can’t remember, into our wine rack, then onto the table. By the time we drank it, it was nice and smooth. Nothing complex, just pretty raspberry, red currant, and light vanilla.
