A Little Introduction…..

Hello all. My name is Makendra James and I look forward to writing for you on Diabetes Notes. I have adult onset type II diabetes. I have been living with the disease for two and a half years and now have a firm hold on it. I exercise regularly and eat low carbohydrate, well balanced meals. Of course, with having three little girls, I do have the occasional bad food day. Who doesn’t? I am a nurse part time on a cardiac critical care floor. The majority of my time is spent at home with my girls, as well as two nephews that I watch two days a week. I like to keep busy!

What do I want to accomplish by writing about diabetes? I hope to bring you new research and breakthroughs in medications and treatments, coping mechanisms for everyday life, success stories and some personal reflections on the disease. I love writing and sharing my thoughts and opinions. I enjoy feedback, any type is welcome! If there is something you would like me to research, or focus on, contact me and let me know. Thank you all for your welcome and I look forward to hearing from you.

Kendra, Amy is the best. You’ve got to go read Diabetes Mine if you haven’t already done so. :)

So excited to have you with us at b5!

  1. [...] Our new writer at Diabetes Notes, Kendra James, had the rare opportunity yesterday to interview Delta Burke of the 1980’s hit show Designing Women . Delta has recently revealed that she was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes ten years ago and Kendra finds out what life has been like since then. There’s no one better to interview Delta Burke. Kendra developed type 2 diabetes herself just a few years ago after the birth of her third daughter. [...]
