A Little Wine While We Work
I adore the holiday season, though my waistline– not so much. Case in point: Saturday at work. I brought in a bottle of wine to share, as did Gail. Pam Maners carted in a crockpot of meatballs, Connie had stopped to pick up some delectable artichoke quiche bites, and LaMont went out for bubbly and cheeses. We started with Gail’s 2006 Navarro Pinot Gris. I found melon, lemon blossom, ruby red grapefruit, and something spicy–ginger perhaps, even though I tend to despise that root. LaMont remarked that you couldn’t mistake it for anything other than Pinot Gris due to its slight oiliness, but I didn’t pick up on that as much. As for the 2004 Langtry Meritage I brought, purchased at the BevMo 5 cent sale, we all enjoyed its fullness. Reluctant to give off much upon first opening, it later gave way to leather, tobacco, blackberry, currant, and light spice. The richness of the meatballs paired well against the tightness of the wine, as did my favorite cheese–Cambezola.

I’m so sorry your work is so hard on you. Sounds terrible.
definitely beats coffee and bagels.
Seriously jealous.

Now, Paige, you know I mostly just talk about the good stuff. It’s not ALWAYS fun and games.
For instance, sometimes we only have coffee and bagels like John…
