A Multi-sensory Thing

“Water is the most multi-sensory thing in the world other than air. But you can taste it, you can feel it, you can hear it, you can see it, it touches all the senses and balance. You know, you’re balancing on the wave, it’s very tranquil.”
Says Lena Gregory, whose 11-year-old daughter Pili Gregory-McCormick took part in a surf camp yesterday, March 2, in Ali’i Beach Park in Hawaii. The camp was run by Surfers Healing, which was founded by Hawaii-born former pro longboard surfer Israel Paskowitz and his wife, Danielle. Surfers helped more than 100 autistic children surf in 1- and 2- foot waves.
I just got a glance of Charlie’s boogie board in the garage on this unusually warm pre-Spring day here in New Jersey: Soon it will be time for him to be back tasting and feeling and hearing and seeing the ocean waves, his natural element. (In the mean time, it is off to the YMCA for a special Saturday afternoon swim time for autistic children from our area—–and the pool will be full.)

West coast – invest in some ‘bigger’ wet suits.
Cheers
Awesome! I hope they’re still doing it when my son gets old enough to surf.
