A New Look for a New Year at Help My Hurt

Hi all – you may notice some changes in the Help My Hurt blog. That’s because there’s a new blogger moving in.

I’m glad you stopped by and I hope that I can help you with what you are looking for.

Pain is a subject that many people know about and talk about – but few people really know how to cope well with it.

In this blog, we’ll talk about different types of pain, causes, and ways of coping. Whether the pain is yours or someone else’s, we all can learn from each other. I hope that, as a community, we can do just that.

I can offer my knowledge and point of view from both a nurse and as someone who has experienced a good bit of pain, for various reasons. I bring good research skills and a knowledgeable background, but you also bring experiences and ideas.

One thing to remember, and it’s a very important thought, is that pain is individual for everyone. What is severe for one person may be a mere inconvenience for another. So, we need to be aware of our own perceptions regarding how we see pain and interpret it in order to be able to help others.

If you have any ideas for topics or links to share – please do so. The more people who contribute, the more we can learn.

Please come back – this will be an interesting journey for us all.

Welcome again, Marijke! Looks like you are already doing a great job and giving some fantastic resources and information – thankfully I don’t have too much pain to deal with (not even hangover pain too often…lol), but this will be absolutely wonderful for those who do. Keep up the great work!

hi Marijke, welcome to the channel… you know it’s so funny coz I was just thinking about that 1-10 pain scale that my nurse had me filled out… I really am so bad at describing my pain that I wish there was an easier way of determining my pain scale today is a “2 versus a 3″. maybe I do need to be more aware of my pain perception. glad to see you giving us some of that expertise.

    Great job Marijke!

Most of the drugs you mentioned treating Trigeminal neuralgia are ones my doc had me try. The med that finally worked to get the trigeminal pain under control for me is Doxepin which is an anti-depressant as well.
