A New Place to Journal

I had to sit and wait at the Children’s Court in the city for a while today. Actually, it was a really long while. I was glad I’d taken a moment to include my journal in my bag before heading out the door. After getting my own business sorted I was able to sit and watch people. At least that’s what I was really doing. I made it look as though I was absorbed in writing in my journal.
I have to say the Children’s Court was a great place to journal. People aren’t exactly at their best in such places and I was able to make a study of the way people interact while emotions run high. I also collected several story ideas from the things I overheard that made little sense to me.
Another bonus was how people had their own problems in mind. No one paid any attention to me scribbling away in my journal. I’ll be ready for more when I return there in a couple of weeks.

I tend to write while on the subway heading into work in the mornings, and in one particular music pub near my office, some evenings. My entries are punctuated with comments about whatever’s going on around me (”there’s a man eating a very smelly egg sandwich, dribbling ketchup on his shoes, across the car”), as well as what’s going on inside my head.
Hi Velma,
Thanks for sharing. I love adding those same kind of details. I find it makes the rereading all the more vivid for those details. Thanks for your comment.
