A piano hinge paper bag book!

Technique Tuesday

Sometimes you’ll see directions for one, sometimes for the other, but my friend Elizabeth from the Yahoo Alteredbooks group has brilliantly combined the two!

Isn’t this a kick? She used pencils for the hinges, and the entire book is just a riot of color and fun. Visit Elizabeth at her blog Altered Book Lover to see her easy to follow tutorial. While you’re there, look around and follow the links to her other blogs…there’s lots to see!

That’s a really neat book. I promised two of my sister’s I’d make them a journal. One like this may just be the ticket, at least for my more artsy sister.

Thank you beyond belief for showing this book on your blog. It was a lot of fun to make and just as fun to share the technique with other artists.

This looks so much fun. i have admired but never been tempted to try anything like this for myself but recently I came across a scrapbooking shop and ……….OH MY…Aladdin’s Cave…..papers and stickers and…and ….and…… My daughter came away with some pretties to make Mum some art and mum got some amazing recycled paper to put with a fabric piece.

What a great easy-to-follow tutorial. With all the pictures Elizabeth provided, you hardly need to read a word! Thank you.

I hope this isn’t a dumb question, but why paper bags? Can you journal over the bulky part? Can you store things (like photos or tickets from special events) in the open side? But if you do, don’t they fall out?
