A Rough Day in Our Household

Wow! This has just been one of those days. It started off with a killer migraine when I woke up. I’ve been having those a lot lately and am being sent to a neurologist. They are going to do a cat scan of my head. Hopefully they will find something up there. I’m sure whatever they find, it’ll be organized.
HaHa.
Even though I had a pounding migraine, life must go on, so we went to the pool. Not the best choice I’ve ever made. The pool trip didn’t go too well when it was time to go. Nobody, except me, wanted to leave.
By the time we got home we were all tired, hungry and grouchy. I left the house in a hurry so it was messy when we got home. When I’m tired, grouchy and hungry, the last things I want to do is tidy up. So instead of tidying up, my 3 year old and I took a much needed nap.
My older two were keeping themselves occupied with the computer and video games, or so I thought. When I woke up, they had pulled out ALL of our playing cards and dominoes. They were everywhere!! I started to just turn around and go back to bed. When I was about to get on to them for making our house even messier than it already was and asking them to help out, they lifted a bean bag and said “Ta-da!” and this is what was there:
Yes, they were very proud of themselves. They had been building several of these for an hour and a half and they have perfected it. I’m thinking about taking them on the road!
So, why am I telling you all this? Because life can get out of whack sometimes even for an organized person, but tomorrow is a new day.
Also, it was more important to acknowledge what my kids had built and be proud of them then to look around and say, “Do you see what I see guys?” They weren’t aware of the mess, they were just having fun. Sometimes we can really learn a lot from our kids.
Unfortunetely our dog knocked down this card house. Better him than me! They already have plans to build more tomorrow.
Oh, I forgot to add that on top of all of this, my computer is on the fritz. I’ve been trying to get it to work for the last 3 hours! I called my husband and asked him if he thought the neighbors would call the police if I threw our computer in the street and ran over it about 20 times. I think he’s on his way home now.
Anyway, it’s 10:30 pm and I am calling it a night. My house is still a mess, I still have a headache, but the house can wait. Sometimes we really need to stop and just take care of ourselves. I hope all of you had a good day. I’m hoping tomorrow starts out better. Good night.
P.S. I do plan on writing some back to school posts soon. After I steal my husband’s laptop. I used to have a love hate relationship with my computer. Today I’m just not feelin’ the love.

Julie:
I can so sympathize; I wrote about a migraine just a couple of days ago. I wonder if it’s weather-related or just a coincidence? (Ironically, I, too, went to the pool… and it didn’t help.)
Get better!
Angelique
Sorry girl. Bet the top 5 helped
Can I show that killer house on Offbeat?
Actually, I don’t know if you remember (no) but my very first Offbeat post I used a house of cards. It was elaborate — but really I was looking for something simple like this. It made me smile tonight; sorry it’s rough but thanks for posting anyway.
@Angelique – migraines…story of my life right now. The doctors just keep drugging me up and it’s not working!! I’m looking forward to a possible answer.
Yeah, the kids want to go the pool again today. I don’t think so! Hope your migraine went away.
@Jennifer – Yep, the top 5 made me feel competitive and a little depressed all at the same time.
I do remember your card house! You are welcome to steal this one. If you need a bigger pic just let me know. Glad it made you smile.
The next time my kids build one of their killer forts I’ll send you a picture of that too.
You know, you should run a contests on the best kid built fort. That would be fun!! People could submit their pics and our channel could vote on the best one. Wait, or our my kids the only ones that still build forts? Surely not.
