a warning on sun and the person with chronic fatigue syndrome

Sun burns are something that almost everyone worries about. I wear sunscreen everyday of the year. I am very fair skinned, and I burn easily. I became a lot more sensitive to the sun though after I got sick with CFIDS. So, I always play it safe. I dont leave the house without gobs of sunscreen on, and my sunglasses in tow.

Now that summer has officially started in the west coast of Canada, I have been even more careful. However, it never fails, no matter how careful I am, I always get burned once in the summer. Yesterday, was that day. And now, I am paying for it. Aloe Vera After Sun gel, is only slightly helping. So I started researching some alternatives for relief. I found some cheap ideas on this website. Here is the breakdown to what they suggest:

Soak in a cool bath infused with lavender or chammomile essential oil for 15 minutes. Or add baking soda, or oatmeal, or vineagar to a lukewarm bath.
Dab rubbing alcohol on your skin.
Soak Towels in vinegar and place it on the affected areas.
Spread egg whites on your skin.
Liquify some potatoes in a blender, and spread it on your skin.

My first treatment is to take some ibuprofen.and if that doesnt work then maybe I will check out the bath suggestion.

Im on the garth nicholson protocol for chronic fatigue and i take the antibiotics amoxicillin and doxycycline. The drugs have made me so sensitive to the sun that i get totally sunburned to the point of peeling in about 25 minutes. I couldnt figure out why i started burning so easily, until i read the side effects. Just giving you a heads up on it, just in case you are on a similar protocol

    Hi Jim,

I am no longer on any medication. But I did do the amoxycillin thing for about 18 months straight. 10 days on, 2 weeks off…that kind of thing. I know it sounds horrible….but at the time it was THE only thing that worked. My doctor and I tried just about everything.

I have always been sensitive to the sun. but you are right….since that time I have become way more sensitive, not just to burning but to light in general~ so much so, that I often have to wear sunglasses inside.

Thanks for the heads up about the side effects of your protocol….I really appreciate your contribution, and I am sure my readers do as well.

    thanks again.
