L is also for:

Lightening: This is the sensation felt when the fetus drops deeper into the pelvis within the few weeks before delivery.

Labor stages: The process of labor is divided into stages. These begin with the first stage, which is the onset of labor until the cervix is completely thinned and dilated to 10 cm. The second stage is called the pushing stage, during which the baby is delivered. And the third stage is when the placenta and membranes are delivered.

Large for gestational age: This term is used for babies who are born at almost 10 pounds or heavier.

Low birth weight: This term is for babies who are born weighing less than 5 and a half pounds, regardless of gestational age.
