me.jpgHey… This is me, Jennifer. Here at b5media I blog at Tree Hugging Family, a green lifestyle blog for the whole family — kids very much included. I can also be found at the strange and beautiful Offbeat Homes and of course I indulge my inner list creator here at Declutter It.

Here’s more about me, in a tidy text nutshell:

I’m a full-time freelance writer, problogger, and an unschooling mama of an amazing seven year old boy. I’m addicted to blogs, green living, architecture, music, books, and learning about most new topics, (except spiders). I dwell in the Pacific Northwest but have also lived in places like Humboldt and Albuquerque. I love exploring green living topics, unusual and lovely structures, and new ways of living.

My current work is concentrated on: full time blogging but I’ve also worked on fresh copy for non-profits, businesses, and various miscellaneous clients. Other writing I’ve done includes web projects, national magazine articles, proposals and grants, health profiles and more. My writing specialty covers topics related to architecture, green living, sustainable building, household issues, saving money, blogging, pregnancy, and also health and wellness.

About me organizing and decluttering (otherwise known as what the heck qualifies me to write this blog):

I don’t have a professional organizing degree (do they have those?) I was simply lucky enough to be born with one of those over hyper I-hate-clutter-and-love-tabbed-divider genes. My son was born with that gene too, so not only do I approach organizing from an adult view, but now I’ve gotten to see this from a child’s view point as well. Seriously, this kid was organizing his toys into bins at age three.

My basic views on organizing over the years have changed somewhat. I used to have some fairly convoluted and difficult systems going on. Like file cabinet systems that no one but me understood, and I’d alphabetize CDs and books. I’m actually more chill now. My general current approach to organizing is to keep it simple. I’m big time into simple living and getting back to a less over stuffed way, less commercial way of life, and instead celebrating a more family and people centered approach to life. I still adore cool organizing products, and I’ll bring some here to share, but lately, I’ve just been working on simplifying overall.

If you really like me visit one of my other blogs:

If you’ve got a super-fly idea for Offbeat Homes, Tree Hugging Family, or Declutter It, such as something you’d like to see, or if you just like to talk as much as I do; go ahead and whirl an email my way. You can reach me at: jennifer.chait (at) b5media.com

I’d love to hear from you.
