About Mary Emma Allen

Quilts and quiltmaking have long fascinated me ever since I sat beside my grandmother and sewed 4-patch pieces by hand to make quilts for my sister, brothers and me.  (Incidentally I still have my quilt, though well worn and faded.)

During the Bicentennial years (1975-76), at the request of my mom, I began making quilts to sell in her country general store.  From this evolved my in-home quiltmaking business, writing, and workshops.

I wrote for several quilting magazines and eventually this blog at b5media.  I was included in Who’s Who in American Quilting.  I also write The Magic of Patchwork.

I no longer have my quilt business, but work on small projects and encourage my daughter, Beth Mastin of Meandering Threads,  in her quilting and fabric art.  She has introduced me to the field of fabric art and mixed media.  Her daughter Kara has created some interesting fabric art, too.  We are part of the line of quilters I call The Trails End Quilters about whom I’m writing in blog and book.

My other blogs include: One Book Two Book, Alzheimer’s Notes, Tea Time Notes, Green Vagabond Traveler
