Addressing Sadness in Your Journal

If you’ve anything like me you’ll have days where you just feel a bit sad. It could be hormonal or in response to certain events in your life, or just because. I always try to describe or at least note my mood when writing in my journal. Sometimes it can be difficult to explain why I am feeling that way. Sadness is one of those difficult to explain emotions. But I always make some effort to reveal the why of my feeling that way.

I read an article tonight about a study where sadness and extravagance were linked. To recognise those blues is often the best way to be aware you are feeling that way. I have actually noticed that I am more prone to spend in excessive and extravagant ways if I am feeling down. The way I combat the problem is to have a journal session before I begin spending. It’s become a good way of safeguarding my purse.

How do you deal with sadness? Do you use your journal to note emotions? Have you noticed you are less likely to hang onto your money when feeling low? Please share in the comments section below any thoughts you have on this topic.
