Do you have Affy Tapples in your area? The name might be a tongue twister, but they are filled with caramely goodness. According to their website, Affy Tapples were “first caramel apple created in the United States.” They still use the same recipe, created by Mrs. Edna Kastrup in 1948.

Affy Tapples are from the Chicago area, and are often used for fundraising in schools. They have plain, with nuts, with dark chocolate, and with candy pieces. I just bought some yesterday that had Halloween sprinkles over them. They even have a “virtual tour” on their website, which consists of a cartoon that shows you essentially how Affy Tapples are made.
They’re a great treat for the kids, especially during the fall months.
