African Americans with chronic pain not likely to be monitored for obesity

It’s known in the medical community that African Americans experience certain types of illnesses or problems differently from other ethnic or racial groups. Now, according to an article that is appearing in the most recent issue of the Journal of Pain, African Americans are also more likely to become disabled than white people, when faced with chronic pain. And – on top of that – African Americans who live with chronic pain were less likely to have their weight or body mass index (BMI) recorded and monitored, even though they are at higher risk for having obesity when compared with their white peers.
