Alzheimer’s Discovered 100 Years Ago

One hundred years ago this weekend, Dr. Alois Alzheimer, of Great Britain, presented the first findings about this memory loss disease. This has resulted in November being named National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month with a proclamation issued by President Bush.

More people are becoming aware of this disease and its effects on the victims and their families, who generally become their caregivers.  A summary of some of the progress made in recognizing and treating Alzheimer’s since its discovery is found in the News Indepentent (http://news.independent.co.uk/world/science_technology/article1951233.ece ).
