WORD OF THE WEEK

DEMENTIA - This is a broad diagnosis that encompasses many memory loss conditions.  The person’s thinking is impaired so daily functioning and reasoning are difficult and often become non-existent.

Dementia includes Alzheimer’s and other conditions that affect memory.  The word Alzheimer’s sometimes is used interchangeably with dementia and this is incorrect.
