The Alliance of Mindanao Off-Gride Renewable Energy (AMORE) has been brining light to more than 6000 households in Mindanao Philippines since 2002. Plans are currently underway to bring electricity to another 150 barangays in the next two years.
About thirty households will be chosen in every barangay with an estimated 6,000 families to benefit from this project. With this, people can have extended study time, more livelihood activities, and we will see more development in these areas.
What I like about this project is that Amore chooses beneficiaries that would carry out the responsibility of sustaining the energy program and giving them the capacity to lift themselves out of poverty.
I’ve heard of rural areas before that has been granted with solar facilities but nobody was properly trained to support and carry on the maintenance. The results is unused PV with dead batteries.
It is nice to know that they’re changing this and focusing on the sustainability aspect of the program.

I want to put up a prawn culture business in my existing farm/fishpond. However, it is far from the source of energy and the tapping point for electricity is around half kilometer from my farm. Can I avail of this Amore project?
