An introduction to my unborn son

Baby's ultrasound

I would like to introduce my son. Although he is as of yet unborn and unnamed, my wife and I call him “Sprout” and we are expecting to see him for the first time in 93 days. The ultrasound is a little grainy, but I think he looks like his old man.

Sprout listens to me talk to him every morning before work, and just before I go to bed every night. I put my face up to my pregnant wife’s belly so I can get some good talk time in before I leave for work. In recent weeks he’s started kicking when I talk to him. In spite of what I may do with the rest of my day, those moments are the clear highlight.

I can’t wait to meet him.

    I couldn’t agree more.

Our kid is kicking like crazy these days. We had twins the first time around so I think by this stage they didn’t have enough room to do any good kicking. Isn’t a bit shocking how much movement she’s doing.

  3. I remember those days – I enjoyed the kicks from the inside, I don’t really enjoy them when the kid is on the outside

We called Archer sprout, too! We’re looking at 88 days until the ETA. Time seems to be flying along to me and dragging to a crawl to my wife :) . It is the most amazing thing I have ever experienced to feel him kicking. Cyn says so too until he wakes up at 4AM and starts jazzercising.

  5. Joe says:

Congratulations, Bill! Sprout is a great nickname. Be careful, it just might stick, and then what will you do?

  6. Ah, the kicking – that was my favorite part of being pregnant :)
