And another 3 disorders that can cause chronic pain

Unfortunately, there is no shortage of disorders and illnesses that can cause chronic pain. Here are three more that you may not know of:
Scleroderma affects about 300,000 people in the United States, although the number rises drastically if you include all illnesses that are thought to be scleroderma-related, like Raynaud’s phenomenon.
Gout, often something that isn’t taken seriously, can cause much pain to those who suffer from it. Gout pain seems to get worse and last longer with each attack.
And finally, for this week, there is Sjögren’s Syndrome. People who have Sjögren’s syndrome can have it alone or with another autoimmune disease. It’s about a 50/50 split between that have it alone or with another illness.

I haven’t had time to do a search yet, but have you written anything about PHN pain? My mom had shingles years ago and never really got over it. It’s very hard to treat that kind of pain.
Hi Joanne,
Thanks for asking – sometimes the pages aren’t all that visible. I did do a thing on PHN, describing what it is but I will do a better posting soon. You can find it at http://www.helpmyhurt.com/postherpetic-neuralgia-2/.
If your mom would agree to it, or if you would like to do it, I’d love to do a Company’s Calling about someone with this problem. That’s a Monday feature that interviews someone about living with chronic pain.
Thanks for stopping by!
