And they call it veggie love…
When I heard our Theme Day topic was going to be ‘love’ this month, I had no idea what I would write about. How much I love vegetables? Or tofu? Or vegan cupcakes?
Then it hit me – I’ve seen a lot of ads for various vegetarian dating sites recently, and I’ve always kind of wondered what they were all about. This Theme Day was the perfect excuse to go check them out. So, in the name of investigative journalism, I made up a fake profile and went undercov… OK, no I didn’t. But I did spend a little time looking at these sites. I was surprised how many of them are out there. Here are just a few I perused:
-
VeggieConnection allows you to have a free partial profile or upgrade to ’silver’ or ‘gold’ membership status for various fees. The site welcomes those searching same-sex or opposite-sex partners, and boasts membership in 235 countries.
-
VegConnect is completely free and allows users to seek friendship or romance with the gender(s) of their choosing.
-
VeggieLove offers free and paid membership levels and offers searches by location, age, type of relationship sought, and keyword.
- VeggieDate offers a free trial but then costs $49.95 to post your profile. Profiles are searchable by geographic location as well as religion. I wasn’t thrilled with the site’s design or the lack of information provided.
Now for some discussion questions: Do (did) you consider diet when choosing a mate? Have you ever used one of these sites? Which one, and how was it? Reply in the comments!
And don’t forget to check out the rest of the Love Theme Day round up over at Lively Women .

Hmmm…I think I might actually have to check these out. I’ll let you know if I’m successful.
