Short answer: No one should be denied the right to become a parent.

If there was a waiting list of couples who wanted to adopt a child, if all the residential homes and foster homes were empty, then maybe you could even justify such a ruling. But it ain't so. Thousands of kids are desperate for a stable home, whether that is with a mom and dad, two dads, one mom, or whatever. I personally know several gay couples who took a chance on older 'unadoptable' kids that no heterosexual couple would bother with. It has been wonderful watching those kids blossom into happy, productive people under the loving guidance of their parents, regardless of the gender or marital status of those parents.

As an adoptive mom, I also don't like the precedent. If they decide that single people are out, are they next going to decide that people over 40 are out? Or people who are not in 100% perfect health? Or people whose house is not 2000 square feet? Give the kids and the parents a chance.
