Lately, it seems that many stitching bloggers have experienced a loss of their stitching mojo. Have you ever lost your stitching mojo? If so, how did you get it back and how long did it take?

Several years ago I was involved with medieval/renaissance re-creation groups, and so did a fair amount of sewing and needlework. Time and interests marched onwards, and for some time I wasn’t really interested in anything related to needles and threads. I satisfied the creative part of me with other arts and crafts. End of last summer when we put our house on the market, and as much of our belongings into storage as we could “to make the house look bigger”, I really really needed something to do to pass the time. So I went to the craft store and picked up a small cross stitch kit (a kit instead of just a pattern, because all of my floss was in storage at that point). I’ve been stitching like mad ever since. There are days, and occasional weeks, where needlework really doesn’t interest me. I think the main trick to picking projects back up instead of being diverted into other things entirely, is to pick a project that is interesting and something you actually want to stitch -as well as be proud to display when it is finished-. I am picky about what I start stitching, and would rather create fewer things, than a lot of things just to say I’d finished something.

Reading other people’s blogs is also inspiring, and I have a hunch that going to needlework workshops or on cruises would also help a person find their mojo again.
