Anteater Pets

An anteater has to be the most exotic pet I’ve heard of. Not just exotic, but strange! However, Tamandua Girl who writes at Living with Anteaters doesn’t seem to think it’s so strange at all.
Her blog is full of photos of her anteaters wearing clothes! Not only that, but they like to hide out in the washing machine and are apparently quite affectionate. Do cruise by the anteater site to check it out.

Am I recommending an anteater as a pet? No. I think you’d need the patience and knowledge of a zookeeper and the salary of a CEO to make it successful. But what do I know? I’ve only seen these amazing creatures at the zoo.

Just thought I’d mention that the anteater that Tamandua Girl keeps as a pet is a tamandua anteater, which is significantly smaller than the giant anteater you show a picture of here. Giant anteaters can be very dangerous – they are quite powerful, and their huge front claws *have* actually killed people, as they are used for defense. Tamanduas are closer to the size of a small- to medium-sized dog.
Maiaw, yes! That’s why I mentioned a couple of times in the post that I didn’t show a pet anteater (in the credit at the bottom and right before the photo). I didn’t have a photo of the smaller one available.
Do you think it’s too confusing? I’ll do some more looking around for other photo ops.
Maiaw, OK, so I was afraid of having nightmares of someone trying to befriend a giant anteater! ; ) I changed the photo to the smaller variety.
