I’m sure most of you were aware it was April Fool’s Day today. This day brings to mind cruel pranks young people often play on each other and the unnecessary pain that results. I’m sure all of us have a story about this happening either to us or by us. Using this thought as a journal writing prompts spend some time revisiting an incident from your youth where a prank had a somewhat disastrous outcome. If you can’t think of any, check out the links below. Perhaps reading these stories will stir a long forgotten memory.

As you write think about how the situation might have turned out better. If you were the cruel prankster rewrite the story so that no one gets hurt and ends with a laugh, or at least better than it actually did. If the prank happened to you, rewrite the event as if you were in the know and didn’t feel like a fool or taken by the others. I hope you enjoy this journal writing prompt.

You are too right about young people being cruel to each other. My prank didn’t occur on April Fool’s Day but it was painful enough for me. Hope everyone else’s pranks were funnier.
Hi Laura,
It sounds like you do know what I mean, from experience. I hope you were able to write about it in your journal. Thanks for your comment.
