In all fairness to Coke, the water contained in soda is, in fact, water. It will serve to hydrate the body the same as any other water.
That being said, the fact that caffeine is a diuretic and the fact that Coke has…what?…THIRTEEN TABLESPOONS OF SUGAR in it makes it a very, very poor substitute for water.
But then the beer companies could say the same thing, cause the water in beer is still water as well, but to say s statement that coke and other soft drinks are hydrating is just another stupid marketing ploy.
