Architecture for bad parents???

This month at the Lifestyles Channel we’re doing this whole Three Doors Down event. So far I’ve introduced Play Library and Psycho for Love. I managed to find structures that fit both blogs. Today however, I’m introducing Parents Behaving Badly – and I though Psycho was hard. I’m not sure there is a structure suitable for bad parents. I guess we’ll look at what Parents Behaving Badly is offering first.

I don’t read this blog. No offense to bloggers Joel and Anne-Marie; but seriously, why depress myself? I don’t really want to hear about Katherine Bunnell murdering her three-year-old nephew or that two four-year-old cousins were abused by their moms and locked in closets for weeks.

Whatever floats your boat is fine; but none of these shenanigans are for me. I’d much rather talk about houses. That said, what to do about the structures that fit this blog? I still can’t think of anything, other than maybe a look back at some of the ugliest structures I’ve shown here at Offbeat. That seems fitting.

One of the worst structures I’ve had here is this monstrosity, last Labor Day:

This does actually seem like a place bad parents might hang out; or you know, convert into their dream home.

Everyone loves, loves, loves, the innovative Toilet House. But really, it’s super unattractive, no? You know it is. Clever or not.  I do like the creative factor, it’s probably way too good for bad parents.

Oh, here’s an ugly house. Can you even tell what it’s supposed to be – without clicking on it?

If you’d like to see more ugliness, way worse than this stuff, check out Parents Behaving Badly.

  1. I must say that you have done a commendable job to actually take the trouble to gather these pictures …because its something which you don’t find regularly

I came over from another blog because I really like offbeat homes (love old traditionals too), but we happen to own a VERY offbeat home. I really enjoyed perusing your pics of homes.

Ours is a prefab we ripped apart from the inside out to build an 18th century cottage from a home that was huge and that we salvaged. All the timber, etc., we put into our own home as much as possible.

I just wonder if we’ll ever be done.

I’m like you. I have no use for seeing or reading about bad parents. I find that subject way too sad.

  3. Beth, You should blog that prefab, it sounds cool. But I hear you about ever being done. When we built our NM house it was supposed to take five months (just a small basic passive solar). HA five months is a good one. House building and remodeling can bite, but in the end you’ll probably love it.
