Are You A Cautious Diabetic While Dining Out?

salad-bar.jpgIn my very honest opinion, I think the best option when a diabetic goes out to eat is to order the good ol’ salad bar! That’s right. Now, you can’t pile salad on half of your plate and then pasta salad, potato salad, Jello salad and other high sugar and carb no no’s, but you can certainly eat all the greens and veggies with a crouton or two.

We took the kids to lunch today and this would be just what I ordered at Ruby Tuesday’s. The salad bar! And it was very yummy. I ate my big ol’ plate of salad and gulped on a diet coke. I love fountain soda and have been limiting my intake of diet coke since all the studies on how it affects diabetics. But boy, one once in a while… yummmy! And give me some credit, it isn’t cheesecake! Haha.

What do you usually order when you go out to eat? Are you ever so careful or do you throw caution to the wind and go for the gusto? I am fairly good and do go for the salad and soup or salad bar. Actually, now that I think of it I am really boring. Why do I even go out to eat if I am going to order lettuce? Hmm… I will think on that one.
