Are You Quilting With Your Youngsters During Vacation?

Quilting with Kids
What activities are you involved in with the youngsters of your life during the holiday vacation from school?  Yes, if you live in snow country, you may be skiing, snowboarding, sledding or ice skating.

However, when you come indoors, or live in snow free climes, you might sit and quilt, as I did with my grandmother, or my daughter and granddaughter do.  My daughter often sat beside me as I sewed quilts for customers and would practice stitching her pieces together.  (Now she’s become an expert fabric artist and designer.)

What projects might you undertake?

  • Potholders
  • Patchwork toys
  • Yo-yo designs
  • Mixed media or fabric collages
  • Inchies
  • ATCs
  • Fabric postcards
  • Full size quilts
  • Fabric gifts of various kinds

What types of quilting projects do you work on with youngsters?

  1. Jean Murray says:

We have the grandchildren for NY Eve- our traditional at-home party while mom and dad have theirs. I do have some craft projects planned.

    What are inchies?

  2. Thank you, Jean, for stopping by Quilting and Patchwork and sharing with us. Working on craft projects with grandchildren on New Year’s Eve seems like lots of fun. I did many crafts with my grandchildren when they were younger and my granddaughter still does quilting and fabric art.
