Art: The Perfect Solution for Empty Storefronts

Downtown Memphis, TN has been undergoing an urban renewal for years now, but some empty buildings still remain. This one in particular, the once Debbie’s Hair Affair, is intriguing because it sits on the near-corner of a very busy area with lots of foot traffic. It would make a perfect bakery, I think.
The reason I’m posting this as a junk creation is because the nice people at the Center City Commission and Rhodes College Center for the Outreach and Development of the Arts got together and decided to reuse some of these empty storefronts as temporary art galleries. It’s hoped that the art and fresh paint will help attract commerce into the area.
