“Arthur” and Chinese adoption

In 2005, Marge’s sister Selma adopted a baby girl from China on “The Simpsons.” Although “The Simpsons” is geared toward an older crowd, we’re happy to hear another animated series is introducing Chinese adoption with a more kid-friendly approach.

In a future two-part episode of “Arthur” on PBS, Binky, friend to the title’s aardvark, learns he’s going to be a big brother to a baby girl from China.

“Binky receives the news of getting a baby sister with great excitement, and he delights in helping prepare for her arrival, and visiting China. Although at times Binky worries about how his life will change, and more importantly, whether his new sister will even like him–Binky becomes the proudest big brother in Elwood City,” according to Chicago’s PBS Web site.

The episode aired 9 a.m. Sept. 8 in Chicago. Check your local PBS Web site for time and channel changes.
