Arts and crafts projects often bring comfort and inspiration to the caregiver as well as the Alzheimer’s patient. It depends on the stage of Alzheimer’s whether the patient/family member can participate in any of these. However, caregivers find crafts and journaling projects a stress reliever, as my daughter did when her husband was undergoing cancer treatment and she was the caregiver.
Take a look at these projects and ideas from the Arts Bloggers, in which I participate through my Quilting and Patchwork blog. Is there something there that piques your interest and inspires you?
What types of arts are you involved in to find relief from stress and inspiration midst your caregiving tasks?

To relieve stress I like to take photos and make videos, then make them into slideshows with music or movies. Trying different editing effects, putting music to the pictures, and making a story seem to give me some self-expression outlets that reduce stress. I always feel better after playing around with something creative.
Thanks, Kristi, for sharing. This sounds like a fascinating project. If we can’t change a situation, we need to find ways to relieve the stress, don’t we?
When my daughter was caring for her husband who was going through cancer treatment, she turned to quilting and fabric art. The small projects she could take with her when waiting at hospitals and doctors’ offices.
I often have delved into genealogy research and working on my family history scrapbooks when I’ve needed relief from stress. Also, when Mother still had some memory and could talk, I would glean from her family stories.
