What kind of pain relief do you usually take? My choice is usually Tylenol with the occasional ibuprofen. When I get older, I’ll consider taking aspirin instead.
Forbes.com reports that although many women would have a lower risk of heart attacks and stroke from a daily dose of aspirin, more than half do not do this as part of their healthcare regimen.
Dr. Nieca Goldberg, chief of women’s cardiac care at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, and author of The Women’s Healthy Heart Program says that aspirin works for:
- Women who already have cardiovascular disease
- Women with multiple heart disease risk factors - diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol
- Women over 65
Dr. Raluca Arimie, a cardiologist at the Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center, in California, recommends an 81 milligram tablet of aspirin as a start for healthy people and up to 325 milligrams for people who’ve experienced a pervious heart attack. Talk to your doctor about the potential for aspirin to improve your hearty life.
