Yesterday this came across the wire: Daily doses of aspirin might cut the risk of ER+ breast cancer (Source: Reuters)

Researchers at the National Cancer Institute (part of the National Institute of Health) discovered during a study of 127,000 women aged 51 to 72 from around the U.S. that a daily aspirin reduced their risk of ER+ breast cancer by 16%. Perhaps the aspirin interferes with the hormone’s activity in the body. And while the decrease isn’t huge … it is an interesting finding that might lend itself to further research.

Doctors already recommend that people with certain cardiovascular conditions take preventative, daily low doses of aspirin. Here’s a link to an older post on the site A Hearty Life that discusses the benefits of taking daily aspirin for women.

How about you? Do you take aspirin daily? Would you if you thought it would decrease your risk? Do you imagine there’s something to this study or do you think it is mere coincidence?
