I agree its rude and also bizarre as many states health departments and school systems are now mandating that anything brought into a school be store bought to ensure quality.
And you know, articles like this only back that up in my mind: http://www.oprah.com/tows/slide/200505/20050513/slide_20050513_101.jhtml
Still, it seems to me that many women live to be catty and attempt to "one up" other women, instead of truly trying to be support systems for one another.

It was a rude comment, and it actually goes against the rule at many schools where homebaked items aren't allowed for safety reasons.

However, I think you need to lighten up, unless you specifically know that ONLY working mothers received the e-mail. Why so defensive?

I"m sorry, that's just WRONG. A. You're bringing things for a 6th grade party. Last time I checked, 11 and 12 year olds eat EVERYTHING you put in front of them, and in fact, they prefer things covered in orange cheese-type powder and with lots of processed sugar.

And B. How RUDE is that?? I'm officially pissed at your kids' school on your behalf. :)

Is it just me or is that just rude? Surely there is always a chance that someone just isn't a baker - SAHM or working - but would still like to contribute? Reminds me of the opening scene in that book called (I think) "I Don't Know How She Does It" where the working mum is still up at 2am "distressing" shop bought mince pies to try to make them look home made for the fair at school the next day!!
