Austin Is The Best City For Single Folk

Axe Body Spray did some reasearch about where in the US singles are going to have the most luck. Austin, Texas won out. I am moving to Austin.

I had the chance to visit Austin for the first time this past March for SXSW Interactive. Since I’ve been back, I’ve been saying that it is the coolest city I’ve ever been to. If it was easy to get a work visa for the US, I’d have been there by now.

I can definately see why it would win out as a great dating city. One of the reasons the article said that Austin was great for dating is that more alcohol is purchased outside the home than any other city. It makes sense…less depressed people sitting at home drinking themselves silly; more people out and about letting their guard down and tipping back the liquid-courage.

Way to go Austin!

  1. I’ve never been to Austin, but everything I’ve read about it or seen on television (with the exception of The Real World – Austin, what a bunch of boobs), makes it sound/look great.

Another plus, they have a lot of running events there and we only have a few in the small town where I live.

Seems that’s the place to go then :)

  3. Yikes! Don’t do it if you are older than 30 and female!

I live in Austin and unless you are under 26 as a female — you’ll be at the “upper end” of the single spectrum. Most of the men 20-45 date young (as in 26 or younger) — even according to the men. When Forbes ranked it #1 everyone here wondered who paid them off. :)

Other than the “older” single scene — Austin IS a fabulous place to live! Allergies are pretty nasty but the weather is nice 9 months out of 12, the people are fun, fit, intelligent, unique and interested in the world. Everyone is into a “thon” of some sort — marathons, triathalons, etc. And there is a TON to do.

Anyway… had to pipe in my opinion. Good luck!

  4. Thanks for your input, Kelli. :D I read Kristin Armstrong’s column at Runners World and she’s always mentioning some local running event. It sounds like a great place for runners.
