A few weeks ago, a girlfriend of mine asked me to accompany her to an event sporsored by Meet Market Adventures. Meet Market puts on tons of events in cities accross North America that facilitates meeting new people. They do vacations, some online dating stuff and local events to just mingle with others. The event I was at was a trivia game held in a pub, but they do other events like scavenger hunts, white water rafting, camping, etc. They did a really great job at organizing it and making us interact with each other. There are so many rules to dating. Actually, there is a book about dating called “The Rules“. My very single friend bought it for me once as she believed it would be what saved us both from becoming spinsters. One of The Rules in the book was not to call the guy the day after the date…actually, if I remember correctly, The Rule was to never call the guy. The reasoning behind that Rule was that guys must never think that want them that badly. They say it’s a huge turnoff for guys to have someone so needy; that we should leave them wanting to call us. Axe Body Spray did some reasearch about where in the US singles are going to have the most luck. Austin, Texas won out. I am moving to Austin. I had the chance to visit Austin for the first time this past March for SXSW Interactive. Since I’ve been back, I’ve been saying that it is the coolest city I’ve ever been to. If it was easy to get a work visa for the US, I’d have been there by now. I can definately see why it would win out as a great dating city. One of the reasons the article said that Austin was great for dating is that more alcohol is purchased outside the home than any other city.
