I am just in love with the idea of sharing a piece of jewelry with your precious little one. Heart U Back Heart U Back is a collection of jewelry created exclusively for the ASPCA and designed to celebrate the human-animal bond. From the press release announcing the launch of the line, “‘The ASPCA’s ‘Heart U Back’ collection of bracelets, charms, pendants, and earrings is fashionable and fun to wear, yet it also conveys a message of love,’ said Gavin Kovacs, creator of the collection.” About the ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) From the About page of their website: The ASPCA was the first humane organization in the Western Hemisphere. How to Pick Your Dog’s Name

This morning, in the Starbucks near my work, there was a photo of a little spotted terrier announcing a contest to name the dog. There were little pieces of paper where you could jot down a name suggestion, along with your name and contact info. It didn’t say what the prize was, but Who Cares!? Naming that adorable puppy is fun enough and I was game! I’ve introduced my own dog, Charlie, earlier last week. Charlie is a girl and so I often get puzzled looks when I tell people her name. Some people respond (or look to their own kids and say), “That’s short for Charlene.” No, it isn’t. Charlie is in fact short for Captain Charlie Bella and she suits the name to a tee. But naming her wasn’t easy. Because... [Read more]

Rainy Day Morning Walk

It was one of those mornings when I dreaded even rolling over to turn my alarm off. Something in the air was preventing me from wanting to get up. When I realized – through my partly open window – that it was the RAIN that was creating that feeling in the atmosphere. I knew that this morning, even more than ever, I had to get going. Why? Because a rainy day morning walk with Charlie means at least an extra 10 minutes added to my morning routine. And that doesn’t even include the drab slowness that comes with a rainy morning. I know I have to factor in extra time wrestling Charlie into the bathtub (ok, sink) rinsing the muck off her little paws and cleaning her underbelly. Although we’re outfitted with an excellent winter... [Read more]

Introducing Ellen and Charlie Bella

Hello Blisstree readers! My name is Ellen and I’ll be contributing posts a few times a week to the Pets section. My dog (a shitzu-mix) Charlie will be helping me find the best news, products and advice so that you can make great decisions for your precious furry friend! I’d like to bring the issues to you in a personal way. With Charlie just having turned 1-year old, I am still a “young mother.” Learning about dog ownership can be daunting at times, but sharing experiences with fellow dog owners can alleviate the pressure tremendously. Any products reviews or advice will be coming from a true place and I welcome any stories, advice or questions that you might have. From top left to bottom right: The kijiji photo that... [Read more]
