Couples Date Nights

Okay, okay, I know it’s probably hard enough to find time just to talk with each other (though many of you seem to be doing well there!), when in the world can you find time to spend with another couple??? Fortunately for us, we have some suckers down the street that we conned into being friends with us. They’ve actually become very good friends that we count on to entertain us when we have some down time!! Since they do live down the street, and our kids are similar ages, most of our date nights end up being cards or games while the kids fall asleep on the couch in front of a movie. (In a few years, the kids will be outlasting us in their own game nights!) However, when we do get to actually go out with friends, we’re... [Read more]

I am that lame…

I don’t buy magazines that often. I’m kinda cheap that way. Once in a while, I’ll pick up a copy of Real Simple when Bald Man and I make it out for coffee, or if I have a coupon. However, there was a magazine that I just had to pick up the other day. And Bald Man was amused. Bald Man: *chuckling* Me: What? Bald Man: I think it’s funny that you bought a copy of People knowing that you bought it because Tim Russert was on the cover, and not because Mario Lopez was on the cover. Me: Yeah, I am that lame. Again, I don’t buy magazines often. I just wanted that one. I was really saddened by the death of Tim Russert. I think the American people lost a true friend the day he died. It’s not all that often that... [Read more]

I want it to matter to you that it matters to me…

I’m sure I’m not the only spouse to have ever uttered these words. It starts with something bothering me to the point of being distraught or anxious. Something that I just can’t put out of my head. Something that I really wish I could change or prevent. And something that means virtually nothing to Bald Man. The “discussion” (could liberally be referred to as an argument) goes on until I’m just frustrated to the core. And while some might think that it’s because I haven’t won Bald Man to my side of the argument (though that would feel good once in awhile), that’s not my ultimate goal. I find the thing that frustrates me most is not that he doesn’t get why I’m upset, it’s... [Read more]

Jaunt Around the Channel

Time for another jaunt around the channel. Let’s see what the peeps are up to: Sandy of Robust Cooking shares a link for free cookbooks. I’m right on it! I don’t think I could have too many cookbooks. Each one that I have has inspired some dish that I’ve made. Yum. Yipes! Heather talks about getting rid of old journals. I don’t think I could ever do that! Maybe one day. Could you get rid of yours? We’ve been smoothie maniacs in our house lately. I find smoothies a great use for almost-but-not-quite-rotten bananas. Now I have to try them with mangoes. Maricar shares a yummy smoothie recipe as a solution for sour mangoes. I think it’d be good for those strawberries that aren’t quite... [Read more]

What would your bedroom say about your marriage?

Not as in, if walls could talk. I don’t want to hear what your bedroom says about your marriage. Sheesh….I’m not that voyeuristic. But, looking at your bedroom as an outsider, what would you think it says? I mean, this is the room that is reserved for the two of you as a couple. How does being in that room make you feel? To be perfectly honest, our bedroom is rather depressing. It’s the only room, other than the kitchen, that’s hardly been touched since we moved in over 8 years ago. The other two bedrooms, the bathroom, the living room, and the dining room have all been painted and redecorated by us since we moved in. The bedroom? We manged to get the carpet up last year? And that’s it. The walls... [Read more]
