Engine 2 Firefighters Diet

Engine 2 firefighter Rip Esselstyn who just happens to be a Ex-Professional Athlete created a plant powered eating plan.  The diet is based on a variety of whole foods.  The Engine 2 Diet guide also has recipes that are tasty.  Some people think of whole foods, vegetables, nuts and seeds as food that you really wouldn’t want to eat all of the time.  I mean, you can eat them with your steak and potatoes but not by themselves.  These recipes includ ways to make pizza and desserts and actually have them taste good.  There are even guidelines within the book that help you with when you have to eat out.  I think this is a great option for any diet book because you will have to leave your house at some time.  When you do eat outside... [Read more]

Weighing In on the 1800 Calorie Diet

The 1800 Calorie Diet is sometimes referred to as the Diabetic Diet.  By consuming 1800 calories a day it is supposed to reduce your blood sugar level and reduce the chance of heart problems.  Actually 1800 calories do not sound like a lot, but it really is.  Diabetic use this diet but it also works well for non-diabetic people.  You have to plan out your day and what you will eat but that is no different than any other diet.  Make sure you look at your protein, carbohydrates and fat numbers are in each food you eat.  It’s a great short term diet if you are trying to loose a few pounds for a special event or if those last 10 pounds refuse to go anywhere.  After a couple of days you actually feel full.  By the time you get to day... [Read more]

Do you know an Angry Man? According to a new report, he is likely to be overweight.  Fox News is reporting that hostile men will continue to increase his body  mass index.    Dr. Hermann Nabi of France has followed angry men’s weight for the past 20 years and that is what he has found.  Each man completed a test before the study to see if they qualified.  I’m guessing that had to really be mean.  I would love to see that test.  They probably got a little meaner each time they were weighed also.  I wonder if a test has been done on Angry women?  They would have to take out the PMS week for some of us.  I think it’s interesting that doctor’s would even think of doing this test.  Did they know a few men who... [Read more]

What’s going on with Enviga?

Apparently quite a bit.  If you have been around for the past couple of years you have heard that green tea is supposed to help you lose weight.  I have seen different diets that say to drink it at night or during the day.  It seems like overnight we went from not being able to find green tea on the shelves to having green tea everywhere.  There is even green tea flavored water.  I didn’t really like the taste of it, but when you are trying to lose weight, you will try a lot of things you don’t typically drink or eat.  Perhaps that is why it hurts so bad when you find out that the information you have been given turns out to be not so accurate.  Enviga has been claiming that just by drinking it you burn calories.  Turns... [Read more]

Healthier Eating equals Weight Loss

There are some things you can do to help jump start your weight loss.  We all know that exercise can help reduce fat, but what we really need is to wrap our mind around is getting healthy. It’s almost easier to say that you are making changes to your diet than to say you are on a diet.  As soon as you let it out that you are unable to eat things, you start to crave them. We need to tell ourselves that we are eating healthier.  Don’t focus on the diet part.  Diets are very emotional because they are tied to what we would like to look like and what we currently look like.  As soon as you slip, you begin to eat away at your self esteem.  Eating healthier gives you room to make mistakes along the way.  Eliminate a fat item... [Read more]
