A couple of months back, the Salt Lake County officials had been looking at putting in solar panels on the roof of their buildings. Well, buildings that were owned by the government in their area. Now, what Mayor Peter Corroon is doing is making ways on how to install all these panels without having to shell out much. And these plans also include asking help and teaming up with other companies and organizations to also bring solar to the residents. These include the city of Salt Lake, the Kennecott Land, and the Utah Clean Energy. They have been targeting the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and the Sandia National Laboratories to help them with such a plan. And one thing that the officials of the mentioned county want is to make the motions... [Read more]

Just what is the best way to tell people that aside from saying that you are green through your company name, you really are green? Well, what Green Mountain Coffee Roasters has thought of is to actually go solar. And that is what they are currently planning to do. They have thought of putting in 530 units of solar panels in its facility in Waterbury, Vermont. This facility is their distribution center. And if this plan of theirs pushes through, then they will then be able to claim that they are the location of the largest number of solar panels in the area. Come spring this year, work on the solar panel installation may begin. And when summer falls, they will then be able to make use of the whole solar contraption. Of course, changes can still... [Read more]

It is said that the world of technology is ruled by men. But that does not mean that women are not, in any way, part of such a world. See, many ladies still would like to learn more about technology. And a lot even do make use of technology. That is surely a fact. And it is good that Casio has recognized this. And what Casio did was they put in the solar technology that they have been marketing in their G-shock watches for men. Now, this solar technology can be found in the Baby-G watches for women. This line is known as the Casio Solar Atomic Baby-G. Oh don’t worry, ladies. These are not just your usual watches that can be too boring for your taste. They come in your usual Baby-G style that you have most certainly liked. Plus, they come in... [Read more]

A new wind farm may soon rise in Texas City. This is according to a piece of news that I came across early today. It said that a company that deals with energy, Duke Energy, is actually looking at building a wind farm in the mentioned area. Just how huge will the wind farm be? Well, they are looking at putting in 30 units of windmills in the piece of land that they are considering. The company has already done a feasibility study and it seems like they are going to be building it in the northern part of the city where there is also a water reservoir. The land is owned by the Gulf Coast Water Authority. They still have to create proposals and have these approved. But this is a really huge project and it may take some time to complete if they... [Read more]

Plastic Balloons To Solar?

Yes. That seems to be one of the biggest piece of news that I have heard in a while. And it seems like this kind of project is currently being worked on right now. What has happened is that a company based in California has been working with plastic balloons to convert the sun’s rays into usable energy. This company is Cool Earth Solar. They have been using the plastic used in Mylar balloons as well as in the wraps of Pop Tarts. Of course, they have not been blowing up the balloons to for solar power. They stitched all of them together and put on some aluminum. That has been the main ingredient so as to be able to bring in power. This project is still a prototype though. But if this goes through, this will surely be something grand.... [Read more]
