So Far So Good with the Goals.

I am just a week into keeping my goals. Yeah! And I have done pretty well. Last Monday I took a long walk by myself. It was the beginning of school vacation, so with four kiddos home, I definitely needed it. It was great to get some fresh air, get out of the house for a brisk walk, and take the dog for a much needed walk too. Tuesday was not so great, but as I had a last minute trip to New York City to pack and plan for, there wasn’t much time. I know, excuses, excuses. I more than made up for it on Wednesday though, with non-stop walking in New York – in a fast pace to boot. I had so much that I wanted to do in such a short period of time that I swear I was sprinting down the streets, lol. Thursday morning was a bit of more walking... [Read more]

Setting Some Goals.

As I have been putting this off for far too long, it is time for me to set some goals and to put a plan into action to help me reach that goal. My long-term goal is to lose 35 pounds. This I want to have accomplished by the years end. My immediate goal, is to lose 15 pounds. And by immediate, I mean that I am giving myself three months to do it. Not unrealistic at all. You see I am going to Los Angeles for the first time in my life in the middle of May. So, that gives me three months to meet my immediate goal. Losing 15 pounds should put me down a full size to a 14, or I am hoping so anyway. I know those trendy little boutiques do not carry size 16’s, so for shopping anyway, I need to do this. Hey, anyway I can make myself do it is a good... [Read more]

Itchy, Bitchy, Sleepy & Starving.

The title pretty much sums up my last week. You would think that coming home from New York and watching countless skinny models prancing backstage and all over the runway would have me inspired. Wrong! You see, being mainly a beauty blogger, while I was in New York for Fashion Week, I was treated to zillions of new lotions, potions, and treatments that have left me with a nasty case of the hives. YUCK! I have yet to identify the culprit, and at least the hives are not all over my body, just on some select body parts but they are bad enough to leave me itchy – all over. I have some medication that helps ease a lot of the itchiness, but it makes me feel like I am in a fog and overall sleepy – thus bitchy and sleepy. And another side... [Read more]

Online Food Diaries.

A health insurance plan that I was on a few years ago had a great program to track you daily caloric intake and exercise. Unfortunately, when we changed insurance carriers, I could no longer access this service. I remember that I liked using it, and it was a great tool in helping me lose some weight. In my search for similar options, I found a few online programs that are similar. Some are free, and some are not. Here are the programs I am considering: MyFoodDiary.com This one looks to be the most comprehensive with some pretty fancy reports, but it costs $9 a month. If I knew it would be a huge help, I would not mind spending over $100 a year for it, but with so many free or cheaper versions, I would rather try one of those first. FitDay.com... [Read more]

Just a Wee Bit Better this Week!

I feel like I made a bit of progress this week. Yes, it was a wee bit, as I stated in the title, but something is better than nothing. I started off the week with no power, so that meant two nights in a hotel – that had a very nice little gym! I forgot how much I loved Elliptical machines, and now have one on my list of things I need – really bad! I actually used that machine in the gym three times this week. The first time I got on the elliptical, I could barely make twenty minutes. But by the third time, I actually stretched my workout to twenty-five minutes, and it felt a bit easier. I think coupled with the fact that the exercise actually made me feel better, a known fact from a report I did over on Aging Fabulous this week,... [Read more]
